WATFORD, ONTARIO — The community of Watford is mourning the passing of William “Bill” Lammers, 74, who died on June 11, 2026. Born in 1952, Bill’s life was deeply rooted in family, farming, and community service, leaving behind a legacy that is being remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew him.
Born and raised in Lambton County, Bill was the eldest son of Bill and Mary Lammers, who immigrated from the North Brabant Province of the Netherlands in 1951. He grew up on the family dairy farm on Churchill Road, where he learned the value of hard work and dedication from an early age. He began school at Holy Rosary School in Wyoming, where he initially did not speak English but quickly adapted and thrived.
In 1979, Bill married Marilyn, the love of his life, after meeting through friends. Together, they built a life on their farm on First School Road, where they raised their four children and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and community. Their farm became a gathering place for family and friends, filled with memories of skating on the pond, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and countless visits to the Watford Arena.
Bill dedicated much of his professional life to agriculture, working for decades with Agriculture Canada and later the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Despite his career commitments, he remained deeply involved in his community, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. He was known for his friendly nature, love of storytelling, and signature “dad jokes” that brought smiles to those around him.
He also cherished time spent with his family on Lake Huron, where he would take children and grandchildren tubing on his boat, creating lasting memories across generations. Friends and family remember him as a man who never met a stranger and who always made time for conversation, kindness, and connection.
Above all, Bill Lammers was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Marilyn; his children Jeremy (LeeAnn), Jennifer LaJoie (Kyle), Stephanie (Mason), and Andrew (Meagan); and his grandchildren Alanna, Brennan, Kieran, and a grandchild soon to be born.
He is also survived by his siblings Frank (Debbie), Joanne Johnston (Larry), John (Theresa), and Helen (Ron); his sister-in-law Maria Lammers; and extended family members including Bob McKay (Brenda), Shirley Pepper, and Lynn Palin. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Martin and Henry, as well as his brother-in-law Doug McKay.
Bill’s life will be honored with visitation services on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the East Lambton Community Complex, with words of remembrance scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations are requested to support the Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital of Bluewater Health Redevelopment Fund.
As the Watford community reflects on his passing, William “Bill” Lammers is being remembered as a man of kindness, humility, and dedication. His legacy lives on through his family, his farm, and the countless lives he touched throughout his lifetime. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
