Charlie Coleman Walls Obituary, Death – Stanleytown, Virginia Mourns Beloved Veteran and Family Man

STANLEYTOWN, VA — The community of Stanleytown is mourning the passing of Mr. Charlie Coleman Walls, 76, who died peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Born on January 24, 1950, in Pittsylvania, Virginia, he was the son of the late John Walls and Nora Haley.

Mr. Walls is being remembered as a hardworking and devoted family man whose life was marked by service, dedication, and quiet strength. He proudly served in the United States Army, an experience that reflected his commitment to duty and country.

Following his military service, Charlie worked as a laborer and devoted more than 25 years of service to Stanley Furniture. Colleagues and friends recall him as a dependable and diligent worker who took pride in his role and built lasting relationships throughout his career.

Outside of work, he enjoyed simple pleasures in life, including mowing grass, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Family members say one of his favorite pastimes was sitting on the porch, enjoying peaceful days and fresh air. Above all, he deeply valued time spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Nutter, as well as his parents.

Charlie is survived by his loving life companion, Patricia Taylor; his children Janie Price (Alvin), Terry Hardy (Ron), Angela Sowder (Darrell), Laura Nutter, and Dwayne Taylor (Salima); along with a large and loving family of grandchildren, including Kenneth Jones, Carl Taylor, Crystal Heath, Brandy Lawless, Christine Keen, Samantha Pilson, Justin Nutter, Jaimie Sowder, Jennifer Violante, Jacob Sowder, Jared Sowder, Adam Taylor, and Aiden Taylor. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, extended family members, and many friends.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Wright Funeral Service Bassett Chapel at 10:00 AM, with interment to follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
