According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, Robert Tarver, 94, and Carla Tarver, 69, were killed in a violent two-vehicle collision that occurred beneath the Interstate 110 overpass along Main Street at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Sunday.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported that the crash involved a 2017 Ford F-250 and a 2023 Ford F-150. Investigators said the Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound on Main Street while the Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on 9th Street when the collision occurred.

Witnesses told investigators that the driver of the Ford F-250 was allegedly operating the vehicle erratically and at a high rate of speed before approaching the intersection. Authorities say the truck allegedly ran a red light, striking the passenger side of the Ford F-150 in a severe impact.

Robert and Carla Tarver were passengers inside the Ford F-150. Both were pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the crash. Their sudden passing has left family members, friends, and all who knew them in deep mourning.
